Deciding a good place to brunch is never as easy as TV series would depict, where characters seemingly wake up with divine providence of where to go. Instead, there’s more of a barrage of queries such as “will we even get a table there”, “how far is it”, and, my favorite, “will it have a nice enough bathroom if the detox juice gives me the looseys (I wanted to find a cuter word for diarrhea)?”. Alright, you got me, that last one is actually my sisters favorite question but I like to be inspired.
Getting back to the topic, it’s harder to find a brunch place when one of the questions is “will they let me take pictures of topless men in their restaurant?”
Location: The Dairy, Clapham, London

Luckily Clapham seems to be quite open minded in regards to my #BarelyEating project. Now, I’ve already written about the Dairy and this visit has only cemented my opinion of the restaurant. It’s quirky yet thought out presentations (the ever present stone platters, the intentionally mismatched sets of tea) shows a restaurant that understands the importance of visuals when eating out. I like that the restaurant also stay true to British cuisine (many restaurant just have the “usual” breakfast menu which you find everywhere regardless of what their cuisine tends to be).
The fried Cacklebean egg, beef cheek, cavolo nero, crispy potato and the toasted granola, pear, clementine, Ivy House yoghurt were delicious. It’s great that you can also sit outside – if it’s nice weather that means lots of people watching and you can see the Common just across the street.
